Wi-Fi QR code generator

Enter your guest network details below to create a static QR code. Preview it, download SVG or PNG, and test it on a phone before printing.

Share a guest network without typing

A Wi-Fi QR code stores a network name, security type and, when required, password. A compatible phone can read those details and offer to join the network. It does not create a hotspot, extend wireless coverage, change router settings or grant internet access by itself. The network must exist and the phone must be within range.

Use this page for a home guest network, a reception desk or a small event where you are authorized to share access. A separate guest network is usually a better choice than exposing the credentials for devices used to run your business. Anyone who can scan or photograph the code can obtain its contents; a QR symbol is not encryption.

Enter the SSID exactly as it appears in the router settings, including spaces and capital letters. Select the security type that matches the network and type its current password. Open networks have no password. The WEP option is only for compatibility with legacy equipment; it is not a recommendation to use that older security scheme. Enterprise networks requiring individual usernames or certificates are not supported by this simple payload.

Check, print and maintain the code

The fields build a standard WIFI text payload and escape special characters such as semicolons and backslashes. The resulting text is shown in the generator’s value field for inspection. You can edit that raw value, but changing the structured fields again regenerates it. Do not add explanatory sentences inside the payload: put instructions beside the printed symbol instead.

Test the finished code with a phone that is not already connected. Confirm that it offers the intended network and can join using the stored credentials. Camera and operating-system support varies, so a decoded text result alone does not prove that every device will automatically connect. You may still need to complete a network’s separate captive-portal or guest sign-in page.

Choose an opaque white background, dark modules and an unobstructed quiet zone. Short credentials create a less dense symbol. Use SVG for a printed sign, keep square proportions and print a sample at its intended size. Check it from the distance visitors will use, in the actual lighting, rather than only holding a phone close to a large screen preview.

This is a static code. If the SSID, security setting or password changes, generate and print a replacement. There is no redirect service, remote editing dashboard or scan tracking. Generation takes place in the browser, but the exported file itself contains the credentials, so store and distribute it with the same care as the password.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does this work with every Wi-Fi network?

No. It targets simple personal or open networks, not enterprise authentication. Test the code with your router and intended phones.

Can someone read the password from the code?

Yes. A reader can reveal the encoded credentials. Share a guest network and display the code only where appropriate.

Can I change the password without reprinting?

No. The credentials are stored directly in this static QR code. Generate a replacement when they change.
